Dewey's Auto Center was founded and opened in downtown Fenton by "Dewey" Johnson in 1974. Dewey had purchased the empty McDaniel Auto Dealership and modernized the building and patterned it as a prototype Goodyear Service Store.
A devastating fire almost completely destroyed the building in October of 1976. Dewey began rebuilding almost immediately. He reopened July 1, 1977 with his new partner Norm Brehmer, in the building that now stands on North Leroy Street. In June of 1989, Dewey retired and Norm continued the business bringing in long time employee, Jerry Lesperance as a partner in 1999. June 30,2009 Norm Brehmer retired and Jerry Lesperance has taken over the business.
Dewey's Auto Center is proud to have been an integral part of the Downtown District business culture in Fenton. We are happy to have been involved in many supportive roles with local schools, churches and worthy community organizations.
